Hello Cheryl!
One of the fun things about being part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel is that as much as I know about Walt Disney World, there is always something new to learn. Your question about penguins made me smile, and then it really got me thinking! Mary Poppins is one of my favorite Disney movies. I even worked a little bit of Mary into my Disney Parks Moms Panel application last year, so I knew I had to find you a practically perfect answer.
There actually is a Mr. Penguin character that appears either on his own, or with Mary Poppins and Bert! While he very rarely may be found in either the Magic Kingdom or at Epcot, your odds of being able to meet him are quite slim. If he was meeting Guests, it is likely to be a very random occurrence and is unlikely to be found on any schedule. In my more than twenty visits to Walt Disney World, I don’t recall ever seeing Mr. Penguin myself.
A bit more investigation led me to learn that last year, Mary Poppins met Guests in Town Square during
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and she was sometimes joined by Mr. Penguin. Since you will be visiting in November, you could consider adding the party to your vacation plans. Again, while the party may be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious good fun, I could not guarantee that you would be able to meet Mr. Penguin.
While it’s not a character greeting, I do know of a lovely place for a photo of your daughter. If you make a visit to The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there is a whimsical fountain in the lobby that features the penguins from Mary Poppins. I have a great photo of my four children sitting in front of that very fountain. I hope I've helped you with your penguin quest, and I hope your daughter loves the fountain as much as I do!
Wishing you a Jolly Holiday!
