My daughter and I booked a room at the Disneyland Hotel. We chose this based on the Monorail because she will need to return to the room to rest during the day. I've learned that the monorail will be closed. Will there be alternative transport for her?

Hi there, Bonnie, and welcome to planDisney!

Thank you for coming by with your question and congratulations on your upcoming trip to the Disneyland Resort! I love seeing the Resort decked out with pumpkins and Fall colors everywhere you look. The Halloween Season officially kicks off on August 23, 2024 so you'll be right in the middle of a spooky celebration!

The Disneyland Monorail transports Guests between the Downtown Disney station and Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park. This attraction is scheduled for refurbishment beginning on August 12, 2024 but no end date has been announced yet. Since we don't know how long this closure will last, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's up and running by the time your visit arrives! I would recommend that you keep checking the Daily Schedule which is released about six weeks in advance to see if a re-opening date is set.

As far as alternative transportation, the best choice would be to walk the short distance between Disneyland Park's Main Entrance and the Disneyland Hotel. It's a flat 0.5 mile walk and should take just over 10 minutes. If your daughter has mobility issues (assuming she is an adult), there are ECV (Electric Conveyance Vehicle) and Wheelchair Rentals located in the Esplanade just outside the Parks.

If you need a distraction during the walk, Pluto's Pumpkin Pursuit is a fun, scavenger hunt game where you try to spot hidden pumpkins throughout the entire Resort, including Downtown Disney District. There's a small fee to participate, but you get a keepsake at the end whether you find them all or not.

Bonnie, I wish you the best as you plan your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth and I'm hoping that the Disneyland Monorail will be up and running for you! Please return if you have any more questions for us because you're always welcome at planDisney. We'll see ya real soon!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
