Oh boy, Alicia! Thanks for sending in your question to planDisney. I think it's swell that you are thinking about a "race-cation" at Disneyland Resort!
It's been five years since the last runDisney event was held at Disneyland; Southern California has had a bit of a running drought! Recently, Disney announced at the D23 Expo that
runDisney races would return to Disneyland in 2024 "for the first time in forever!"
I spoke with a Cast Member today; unfortunately, they don't have further details yet. runDisney registration typically opens 7–8 months before the event. Some events will sell out in a matter of hours, so it's best to be ready to register on the first day if possible. I recommend staying tuned to the
runDisney website. You can sign up for their mailing list and email them questions. If you are on social media, you can also follow them for the latest updates on
Instagram and
Twitter using the handle @rundisney.
In the meantime, you'll want to invest in comfortable running shoes and start researching training methods. The official training plan of runDisney is the
Jeff Galloway method. I swear by his program, which promotes a run/walk interval method for training (3 days a week) and on race day. You can
find plans for 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon distances on the runDisney website.
Alicia, get ready, get set, and go have a great time!
