How does DAS work with Genie+ and ILL? Do we still have to purchase both or is it optional? What are the benefits to still purchasing those in addition to the DAS?

    Hi Alex,

My family regularly uses Disability Access Service (DAS) in conjunction with Genie+ and Individual Lighting Lanes. The important thing to remember is that all three of these services are completely separate and independent of each other. The main benefit to using them all together is maximizing the amount of things you can do in a short period of time. If your family member that qualifies for DAS cannot be in the theme parks for a long period of time, using all of these services together will allow you to do a ton of things before they need to leave for rest or respite.

DAS is reserved for guests who because of a disability cannot wait in line for an extended period of time. You will utilize the My Disney Experience app to request return times for each ride that will be equal to the current wait time. This allows you to wait somewhere other than the normal queue. When your return time is up, you will come back to the attraction and enter through the Lighting Lane entrance. This will not take you to the ride immediately but will offer quick access to the ride. You can only hold one DAS return time at a time and will not be able to request another return time until you have redeemed your existing one.

Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lighting Lanes also utilize the Lighting Lane entrance for rides and attractions. This is a paid service that any guest can use to reserve Lightning Lane entry throughout their day at any of Disney's theme parks. In the My Disney Experience app, you will purchase this service for a day and make one Lightning Lane reservation at a time. You will not be able to make a second reservation until you either use your first or 2 hours time has passed. People can normally use this service for access to the Lightning Lane on 3 rides throughout the day if they begin making reservations at the start of the day.

Individual Lightning Lane purchases work separately from both DAS and Genie+. This service allows you to purchase a Lightning Lane reservation time for the most in-demand rides at Disney World. I normally always use this in conjunction with DAS to ensure we get to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train so we don't bog down our DAS return times waiting on these attractions with much longer queue times.

You can hold a Genie+ reservation, DAS return time, and Individual Lighting Lane reservation all at the same time! This will help you optimize your time in the theme parks and make sure you get to do everything you want when you are limited to how long you can stay in the theme parks.

    Happy Planning,
    Jenna
