    At the daily opening of the MK park, is there a welcoming announcement with characters on a train? Not sure what this is called, but someone told me about it and it sounded "magical"! We plan on going Jan. 9, 2012 for the 1st time. Thank you!

    Hi Jennifer!  Congratulations on making your first trip to Walt Disney World!  Magic Kingdom happens to be my favorite park, so I am thrilled that I can help answer this question for you!  The show you are referencing is the opening ceremony at Magic Kingdom.  The ceremony is performed at the opening time of the park, or "rope-drop" as some reference it.  It truly is a special ceremony to behold, and I would recommend you arrive at least 20 minutes before the parks scheduled opening.  The ceremony takes place on the platform up by the train station, at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom.  I don't want to ruin the surprise, but lets say that there is dancing, music, characters, and of course Mickey Mouse, who comes to greet all the guests visiting Magic Kingdom.  There is a little "pixie dust" that is spread to all those who are in attendance, so its definitely a must-do!
