    Hello moms & dads! What do you think about taking 1 yr old twins to a signature restaurant? DH says no but I really want to try one. Any that are better? Panel has been so helpful planning our first trip with the babies. Thanks!

    Hi Linda! One of the reasons I love Disney World is that even the nicest restaurants welcome children. With the exception of Victoria and Albert's, the signature restaurants all have children's menus and crayons for the little ones. My husband and I enjoy dining at fine restaurants, and I remember after my son was born, I wondered if we'd ever be able to eat out again. We soon became hooked on taking all of our vacations at Disney because we could stay at fancy hotels and eat at gourmet restaurants with our young children in tow. It's Disney World after all; people should expect to see children everywhere, and no one should look askance at you for bringing your young children to a nice restaurant. In my opinion, you should feel free to dine at any of the signature restaurants. Two of my favorite ones are Jiko and the California Grill.

    To successfully dine with little ones, be sure you keep them on their regular schedule; if they're used to eating early, make your reservations early. Bring small toys to keep them quietly entertained. The service at the signature restaurants can sometimes be quite leisurely, but since toddlers can't be expected to sit quietly in a high chair for very long, be sure to tell your server upfront that you'll need to eat as quickly as possible. (Even though my children are older, my husband and I are still in the habit of ordering our meals at the same time as we order our drinks, a tactic most parents of young children find helpful in speeding a meal along.)
     
    If you don't feel that your twins could sit quietly for a nice meal or if you think the stress of trying to keep them entertained and happy for an hour would ruin your dining experience, consider hiring an in-room babysitter for them so you and your husband could enjoy a romantic evening.
