Hi Moms and Dads! We're planning to visit MNSSHP at the end of Sept. We've never done the party and will have my almost 2yo son with us. What are you best tips and tricks to make it as enjoyable and tantrum free as possible?

    Hey there, Charmaine!

I love the transformation that occurs at the Magic Kingdom as autumn arrives and a not so spooky glow takes over. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is definitely a favorite fall event at Walt Disney World.

The party typically runs from 7 PM until midnight, and for many little ones, it's tough not to be crabby as the party winds down. Some things that always worked with my little goblins:

First, make sure you choose a comfortable costume. Some of the cutest costumes can be devilishly uncomfortable - and that won't make anyone happy. Keep in mind that temperatures may still be warmer than you're used to at Halloween, so you don't want to be overly bundled up.

Naps can turn any Beast into a practically perfect prince. A big mistake a lot of families make is they do a full day of theme park fun, then try to do the party until midnight. My plan for party day is always a relaxing day by the pool, a nice big lunch, then a late afternoon nap. It really helped keep my little party animals in top form.

See the early parade. Usually, there are two parades during the party. Seeing the early one helps avoid the temptation to stay way past the witching hour if your pint sized pumpkin is really just too tired to stay for the whole event.

Split attractions with trick or treating. Don't try to do all the treat stops in one shot - catch them as you do the attractions in each of the areas. It saves backtracking.

    Have a wonderful time!
