Hi Moms and Dad! Are any of you DVC members? My husband and I are considering becoming members and would like any recommendations/advice you may have. Thank you!

    Hi Gina,

I am a DVC member since 1999.  For my family, it is a great investment.

We purchased our initial share because we saw the price of staying in a moderate hotel increase 50% in just six years.  We also knew it was a place we would come back to time and time again without getting bored.  We liked the fact that it was an attractive property to own because though it was more expensive then buying outside of the park, Disney was going to be around for the long term.  We liked the idea of points and not a single week or two of vacation it year.  This provides with a lot of flexibility.

But if I had to do it again, I would still come back to Disney.  Being on property at a Deluxe resort every year for a week is a dream I could not live otherwise.  The way Disney treats you is outstanding and you are family.  Even on the Disney Cruise, you were made to feel special.

I would look at how your family will use the property.  If you do not plan on coming to Disney or using your time share at least every two years, it may not be worth it.  I would take a tour of the properties and see if you like a particular location for your home resort.  We love the Boardwalk and stay there frequently.  However, we own Saratoga Springs and have not stayed there but use those points to add on for bigger trips-cruises and multiple family vacations.

Talk to a DVC Castmember and visit the site.  In addition, research other time share properities to make sure you will be happy with this purchase.

    Good luck!
    Beth
