Hi Patricia,
It's great to have you with us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thanks for stoppin' by.
I completely understand your concern. While some Guests enjoy collecting
MagicBands - I have even heard of them being used as a replacement for garland on the Christmas tree - others have an attachment to a particular MagicBand from a special time. My must-use customized MagicBand was a birthday gift from a fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelist!
Good news! You can actually decline MagicBands for your upcoming vacation. In fact, one Guest on a Resort hotel reservation might decline while another may still perfect a new Magicband. It's completely individual, which I love.
To decline a new MagicBand, simply log-in to your
My Disney Experience Account and head to the MagicBands & Cards section. You should see a button to Customize for your upcoming vacation. Click that. Then, by each Guest, you should have the choice to either Customize or, in blue, Decline MagicBand. It's that simple!
If your next vacation is right around the corner and you are beyond your customization window, you will see a message indicating that your MagicBands will be available at your Resort front desk. If this is what you are seeing, and it sounds like it is, don't worry! Those gray MagicBands that could be issued to you at Check-in can be recycled if you desire. Simply inform the Cast Member that you are not interested in receiving them, and they will handle the rest.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Wishing you many magical memories,
Sally
