Hello, we are currently in the planning phase. We want to stay at a Disney Resort, but are considering spending a night off-site.Is it a problem to spend a night off-site during an existing stay? We come from Germany and want to see as much as possible.

Hi Isabell, and welcome to planDisney! There’s nothing better than planning a Disney vacation, and I totally understand wanting to see as much as possible while you’re here.

It sounds like you have an existing Disney Resort hotel reservation and are wondering if it’s okay that you don’t stay in the room one of the nights. I checked with a Cast Member who confirmed that this isn’t a problem, but you’d still be responsible for the cost of that night.

If you’d rather not pay for part of a hotel stay that you’re not planning to use, you can also book your Disney Resort hotel room and park tickets separately (instead of booking them together in a Hotel & Ticket Package). For example, you could book a three-night stay at Wilderness Lodge, then a one-night stay at the off-site hotel, and then a two-night stay back at Wilderness Lodge. And for your theme park admission, you could purchase a five-day ticket (or however many days you plan to visit the theme parks). There's also a nice side benefit to booking this way. Since Disney Resort hotel guests get complimentary water park admission on their check-in day, you'd have two eligible check-in days if you book two separate stays.

However, sometimes there are special offers that might make it a better deal to book a Hotel & Ticket Package, so be sure to compare prices. Currently, there’s a Free Dining & Drinks summer promotion that ends soon (it needs to be booked by March 31, 2025) and this could possibly make it worth it to go with the package in your case.

It's such an exciting time to book a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth because there are so many new things coming to the parks this summer! Disney Parks Blog just announced that two new shows are debuting at Hollywood Studios on May 27, 2025—Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure. And what I’m most looking forward to is the new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom—Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away coming this summer! I can’t wait to see the sparkling floats on Main Street, U.S.A.

I hope you're able to pack as much magic as possible into your vacation! If I didn’t quite answer your question, please submit another one to us at planDisney. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to plan your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
