Hi, Lee! Thanks so much for checking in with us about your question. Purchasing travel insurance is such a great choice when putting together your vacation plans. You never know when something might happen to put your magical vacation on hold. Last summer, I fell and injured my ankle three days before I planned to visit Walt Disney World Resort with my sister. We had not purchased travel insurance, so I was initially fretting over what to do. Luckily, the doctor cleared me to still go as long as I rented an ECV and stayed off that foot. That one experience taught me how important travel insurance could be!
Currently, travel insurance is not being offered to guests who book their Walt Disney World Resort stays through Disney Destinations. The Cast Member I spoke with just now advised that they have not been told if or when travel insurance would be offered again. However, she did note that when it is again offered, guests who have previously
set up their vacations and paid the required deposit will be able to add on travel insurance as long as they have not paid their final payment. Once that final payment has been made, as the Haunted Mansion's Ghost Host says, "there's no turning back now!"
I hope this information helps assure you to go ahead and make your pixie-dusted plans! Please let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your visit.
