Magic Key holder, it’s great that you’re exploring your options and thinking ahead about how to make the most of your
Disneyland Resort visits.
I called the
Disneyland General Help telephone line and confirmed with a helpful Cast Member named Chloe that, according to current Disneyland Resort policy, theme park tickets can be applied toward the purchase of a new Magic Key, but they cannot be used to upgrade an existing Magic Key. In your case, the value of your
3-day California Resident ticket would not be able to be applied toward upgrading your Imagine Key to an Explore Key. You are welcome to use your 3-day ticket for park admission, or you could wait until both your ticket and current Magic Key expire and then purchase a new Magic Key, pending availability at that time.
I know this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but the good news is that you already have two great ways to experience the magic. If you are visiting soon, you may find yourself enjoying the
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This is a wonderful time to explore, with Marketplace booths featuring flavors inspired by the Golden State and the limited-time return of
Soarin’ Over California. As a fellow “Q-Tip,” I highly recommend making time for this nostalgic favorite (and keeping an eye and nose out for those signature California scents along the way).
As a Magic Key holder, be sure to check the Magic Key portal in the
Disneyland app before and during your visit. It’s the easiest way to stay up to date on current holder-exclusive perks, seasonal offerings, and special experiences. During festivals like Food & Wine, Magic Key holders often have access to extras such as a specially priced
Sip and Savor Pass with a commemorative lanyard, which can add a little extra fun to your day.
