I currently have the Enchant key (since Nov 2025). I wanted to know if I can "upgrade" it to the Explore key by paying the $25 difference in January 2026 when the Explore key is available?

Welcome to planDisney, Leang! News about Magic Key passes always stirs up a sense of adventure, and it sounds like you're ready to set off on a fresh new journey. I’m happy to help you chart the best course as you consider whether the Explore Key is the right path for your Disneyland explorations.

The Explore Key officially launches on January 13, 2026, and new passes will be available while supplies last. Once it debuts, the Enchant Key will no longer be offered for purchase or renewal. That said, current Enchant Key or any Magic Key holder will be able to switch their pass to an Explore Key starting on January 13, 2026. (And, of course, when your Enchant Key eventually reaches the end of its adventure, you’ll still be able to choose a new key type if you prefer.)

I checked in with a helpful Cast Member, Michael, who confirmed that upgrading your pass prior to renewal must be done in person at the ticket booths in the Esplanade. When you upgrade, you’ll pay the difference between what you originally paid for your Enchant Key and the current full price of the Explore Key.

The Explore Key comes with plenty of benefits to help you roam the "wilds" of the Disneyland Resort with confidence. These perks include up to 10% off select merchandise and dining, as well as 25% off parking at the Toy Story Parking Area and on the purchase of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. One exciting new feature is that Explore Key holders can make park reservations on select weekdays in June and July. This means you’ll be able to keep your adventures going strong even as summer crowds sweep in. (Exact dates will appear on the Park Reservation Availability Calendar ahead of the Explore Key’s launch.)

If you do decide to upgrade, Leang, be sure to download the Disneyland app and explore the Magic Key Portal. It’s like having your own digital explorer’s compass, pointing you toward exclusive perks, special events, and magical surprises throughout the year.

Leang, if you have any other questions or want help navigating your next steps, we’re always delighted to guide fellow adventurers here at planDisney.

    Wishing you many magical expeditions!
