Hello Kerry!
Welcome to planDisney! I totally understand that twitchy feeling! I am a planner by nature. On my vacations, I like to have everything organized well in advance. I put on my list, to create a packing list, in advance of actual packing because you can never be too prepared, right? And then I may need to make another list! As a nurse during a pandemic, I even tried to prepare for
that by encouraging my coworkers to conserve every item we could last spring. But, I think one of the many lessons of the past year is that I can prepare as much as I can, but life is still a roller coaster of unpredictability. I understand that coming from Great Britain poses additional challenges. I wish we knew when travel would be open for our international friends.
At the moment, Disney does require all Guests to have a
Disney Theme Park Ticket and make a
Disney Park Pass Reservation for each day they plan to visit a theme park. I do not know for certain, but I would anticipate this to continue for the foreseeable future. In the age of Covid-19, a few months is a very long time, and things can and do change. Disney is doing their best to make changes as needed, and things could be different by April 2022. Since a Disney Park Pass Reservation is currently required though, I would proceed with the idea that you will need them next year.
Currently, Disney allocates a certain number of Disney Park Passes to
Resort Hotel Guests,
Annual Passholders, and Day Guests. While there are no official numbers, there are separate allocations for each group. I would recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel for the greatest availability as time goes on, or booking your tickets and making your Park Pass Reservations as soon as you are able if you will be staying off-site.
Booking for the first half of 2022 is now open, so you can reserve April of 2022 right now! A quick look at the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar shows that April 2022 is wide open and you could reserve your days as soon as you have Disney Theme Park Tickets linked to your account. I think you’ll feel less twitchy once you have that reservation set!
Sending you pixie dust for your perfect reservations, and hoping that 2022 brings us closer to normal travel!
