Curious about the pin trading. I've seen it on my past 2 trips but never did it... Our daughter will be almost 3 during our next trip... Is that a good age to wear a lanyard and trade pins? How do I get her started and what are the rules?? Thanks!!

    Hi, Mandy!
Thanks for reaching out to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Pin Trading is something my kids have enjoyed for years at Walt Disney World Resort. We started out buying starter lanyards when they were youngers. They would decide which of their pins were tradable and then they'd walk up to Cast Members who wear extra pins and see if they can trade for something different. I've learned through the years that my kids will not wear their lanyards for very long... Especially once they start collecting a lot of pins. Those lanyards can get heavy! Each year, we pick out one pin that includes the year we visited and decorate a lanyard we save for pin memories. That's the lanyard I wear around the parks. I don't trade those pins but I carry a case full of tradable pins in my bag. We really love the opportunity to talk to Cast Members, get to know them a little and find pins we've never seen before!

Recently, Disney Parks announced a special pin trading scavenger hunt called PinQuest. It looks like SO much fun. I know my kids and I can't wait to give it a try.

I hope those tips help you plan our your "extras" during a visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Let me know if I can help with any other questions!
