Ahoy there, Isaac, and welcome to planDisney,
Thanks for sailing by to see us. One of my favorite moments on a
Disney Cruise Line vacation is waking up to the ship docking in
Castaway Cay and anticipating all the fun the day ahead will hold!
Your question is an interesting one. The distance between
Nassau and
Castaway Cay is approximately 60 nautical miles. I checked with a Crew Member who confirmed that while that may not be very far in distance, the ships keep moving overnight, albeit rather slowly. I attribute that gentle movement, and the amazingly comfortable mattress and bedding on the stateroom beds, to the incredible sleep I get on Disney cruises! And did you know that you can track the ship’s movement on the television in your stateroom? My crew enjoys watching where the ship has been.
Speaking of Castaway Cay, I have one little tip for a special treat during your day there. If you are a fan of ice cream and a fan of soft drinks, make an ice cream float at Cookie’s BBQ or Cookie’s Too BBQ lunch buffet areas. It is a delightful way to cool off!
Isaac, I hope this has been helpful to you and that you enjoy every moment – including the slow-moving overnight journey! If you have other questions,
cruise back by to see us. We would love to help you make the most of your magical vacations.
Wishing you smooth sailing,
Shannon
