Welcome aboard, Erin!
Before we discovered
Disney Cruise Line, my family sailed with other cruise lines, and let me tell you, you will be so happily surprised at how spacious Disney's staterooms are compared with other cruise lines. Most of the time, when my family of four sails, we book the
Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with a Verandah, though we have sailed in Inside and Oceanview staterooms too. All of them were great, and I wouldn't hesitate to choose any again. But, you will certainly have plenty of space for your family of four in the stateroom you've chosen.
Your best bet is probably to put your teen on the lower bunk and your younger child on the upper bunk, but if you go vice versa that will work too. When my kids were little, they both coveted that special upper bunk, so I bet your little one will want it too. There are rails on that bunk so no need to worry about your little guy falling off. Your stateroom host is happy to provide rails for the lower bed as well if needed.
Store your luggage under the raised bed and you'll keep the room clear for moving around. We have very large hard-sided suitcases, and even those slight right under the bed, so I'm sure yours will too, Erin. You'll also be happy to know that you don't need to worry about your little one wandering out onto the verandah unattended since there is a door lock up very high on the door that only you'll be able to reach. I remember being so very happy to find that on our first cruise because I had been worried about my young daredevil son opening the verandah doors to go out on his own. No problems there at all!
Have such fun when you set sail next month on the beautiful
Disney Dream, Erin!
