Ahoy, Jean!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm sure your crew is looking forward to your 5-night
Halloween on the High Seas sailing. Do you have your costumes picked out for Mickey's Mouse-Querade Party? You'll find Guests of all ages decked out for the festivities. It's a great opportunity to get some treats and pictures with some of your favorite Disney Pals in their adorable Halloween attire. All ages are encouraged to participate!
Jean, I also have a 15 and 12 year old and have cruised in almost every month of the year. My daughter has been homeschooled since middle school, so it has allowed us some flexibility when selecting our sail dates. The number of Guests participating in the youth programming can vary depending on the time of year and itinerary, but by choosing Disney Cruise Line, I think you'll always find other kids your children's age cruising at the same time. I think many homeschooling families take advantage of fall sailings, and you'll also find parents who don't mind taking their kids out for a few days of school. I know the last of September and early October are popular times for fall breaks especially in my home state of Georgia.
Both of my kids make sure they visit the youth clubs on the first night to participate in Ice Breakers, meet the wonderful youth counselors and make friends with other cruisers their age. I'm always amazed at how quickly friendships are formed and how much they enjoy hanging out with each other during the cruise. It's always bittersweet the final night, but thanks to social media and texting, my kids are still in contact with several of their Disney Cruise friends. I strongly suggest your tween and teen attend the activities the first night.
We are glad you cruised by with your question, Jean! We hope you'll let us know if we can assist you further with your plans.
