Ahoy, Lisa!
You must be planning a cruise that stops in Disney's tropical paradise,
Castaway Cay! I was just there last weekend, and it was absolutely picture perfect! I keep imagining myself back on the beach lounging under a palm tree because it was so heavenly! I know you are counting the days until your visit to this Bahamian oasis!
Disney Cruise Line does offer the Castaway Cay 5K when one of their ships stops at their private island. This is always subject to change, but it has become very popular, so I imagine it will be offered for many yEARs to come. The run is free, but you will need to sign-up once aboard at either the Port Adventures Desk or at
Guest Services before your arrival at Castaway Cay. Guests 10 years and older are encouraged to participate in the three mile run, and all finishers will be awarded a colorful medal. You'll also receive an official runDisney bib! There are Castaway Cay 5K themed t-shirts for sale in the gift shops on the island-She Sells Sea Shells and Everything Else and Buy the Seashore.
Guests who sign-up will meet in a designated location aboard and will depart together around 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. upon the ship's clearance. There is water at the beginning of the route and along the way, so be sure to stay hydrated because it can be very hot even that early in the morning! Since the ship is so close you can head back to change and eat breakfast or store you belongings in the bin at the starting line. I've done it several times, and it's always a magical way to start the day on the island!
I'm so glad you cruised by with your question, Lisa! We are always happy to help so please let us know if you think of anything else.
Happy running!
Nancy
