Our cruise is scheduled for May and we are planning an adult only dinner one night. The dress code states no flip flops, does that mean sandals are excluded, or is it just those plastic looking flip flops?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Dorothy!

I am excited to hear you are sailing with Captain Mickey and enjoying an evening in the adults exclusive restaurant, Palo!  There is nothing like the dining experience at Palo, especially if you are a fan of Italian cuisine.  It makes me hungry just thinking about the antipasto and of course my favorite dessert - chocolate soufflé!  Be sure you save room as the soufflé is truly heavenly and should not be missed.

Dining at Palo has the feeling of an upscale restaurant you may find in a major metropolitan district.  The dining room has beautiful views from every table and a quiet, relaxed ambiance.  The atmosphere is part of the overall experience for guests dining at Palo, so the dress code should be followed.

My recommendation for footwear is to aim for something that you would feel comfortable wearing to an upscale wedding or business event.  Sandals can be acceptable if they are dressy and in good condition.  If you are concerned that they may not fit the dress code, I would recommend you err on the side of caution and bring an alternate option.  I typically wear strappy sandal-like shoes with a heel paired with a flowy, summer dress when dining at Palo.  If the weather is a little cooler, I bring a nice sweater as well.

Since you are all dressed up for your dinner, why not end your evening with some live music and a drink at Keys Piano Bar.  This is one of our favorite places to relax and enjoy a quiet evening after dinner onboard the Disney Magic.  Head to Deck 3, Forward to enjoy this quiet space in the adults exclusive After Hours section of the ship to end your evening.

    Enjoy making memories!  Angie
