Hello! Our cruise itinerary visits Tortola and St. Thomas. Our kids will be 3, 7, and 10 when we sail. We want to explore both islands and enjoy the beautiful beaches. Any suggestions on excursions for all the children to enjoy? Thank you!

Ahoy, Brittney! Welcome to planDisney, where we aim to answer all of your Disney Cruise Line vacation questions to get you and your entire family ready for smooth sailing.

It looks like you will be enjoying a 7-Night Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral aboard the Disney Treasure and want to embrace the spirit of adventure in your ports of call too. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to step aboard the Disney Treasure just yet, I have been to both of the ports that you are asking about with my own young son and can provide some recommendations for family-friendly Port Adventures.

When you visit Tortola, B.V.I., I would recommend booking the Jost VanDyke Beach Day (TT65) excursion. You start by boarding a tour boat that will sail along the Sir Francis Drake Channel, which gives you great views of your Disney ship from the water and some of the other islands in the area too. The tour boat will take you to Great Harbor on the smaller island of Jost VanDyke, where you will board a taxi for a short ride to White Bay Beach. Once you arrive at the beach, your whole family can swim, stroll along the shoreline, and enjoy your included lunch. At the end of your beach time, you will board another taxi back to the tour boat and sail back to your waiting ship. My family enjoyed this particular excursion because the boat rides each way were just as much fun as the time we actually spent on the beach.

There are also several different beach excursions for your stop in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., but I would recommend the Golden Age of Piracy Treasure Hunt – A Family Adventure (ST85). Your whole family can search for buried treasure on this excursion that’s a combination of puzzle solving, visiting the Pirates Treasure Museum, and a beach lunch. If your family lives for Pirate Night, then this is the perfect opportunity for additional swashbuckling fun as you learn some pirate history to complete your treasure map.

I hope those recommendations give you some ideas for Port Adventures that your whole family can enjoy. Don’t forget that your ship’s itinerary also includes a perfect beach day at Disney Castaway Cay, so you will already have plenty of time to soak up the sun even if you decide not to book a Port Adventure for the other stops. No matter what you decide, I know that you will have an amazing time during your week at sea. If you have any other questions, we are always here to help at planDisney. Happy sailing!
