we want to cruise in 2027 but we have four adults and two children. what is the room that would be best for us to book on a ship for 5 to 7 days

    Hello, Michele,

Welcome to planDisney. I'm glad you stopped by. This very question came up for my family of six people as we were beginning to plan our very first Disney Cruise Line vacation. We were used to squeezing our large party into hotel rooms with a couple of queen beds and a sofa bed. But we found that cruise ship staterooms are simply designed differently from a typical hotel room.

Many ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet feature a few suites that can accommodate five, six, or even eight Guests. But the vast majority of staterooms are designed for three to five Guests, with sleeping accommodations for four people being the most common. The larger suites often tend to be popular and sell out quickly. Frankly, they are a bit beyond my budget as well. But we have found that the perfect solution for our larger family is to simply book two staterooms. Often, we book adjacent staterooms with connecting doors between them. Not only does that effectively help us create a type of multi-room suite, but it also gives us the best possible stateroom perk for a large party: double the bathrooms! And when booking deluxe staterooms with Disney Cruise Line's innovative split bathroom design, we end up with virtually four bathrooms across our two staterooms. Now, doesn't that sound luxurious?

To book a suite, you must call the Disney Cruise Line directly. Or, if booking multiple staterooms, the Find a Cruise storefront on the Disney Cruise Line website makes it really easy to book up to four staterooms at once. When booking two staterooms online, you may even narrow your search to only look for available staterooms with connecting doors. Keep in mind that there must be at least one adult assigned to each stateroom you reserve.

In summary, and to answer your question, the best room for your party depends on budget, stateroom availability for cruise itineraries that interest you, and the assignment of members of your party to different staterooms that work best for you. My personal recommendation for a large party of six cruising together for the first time is to book two deluxe staterooms with connecting doors.

I hope you have a marvelous cruise, Michele. Please don't hesitate to visit us again here at planDisney if you have any more questions as you continue to plan an unforgettable vacation Where Magic Meets the Sea.

    Bon voyage, Michele!
