Welcome back, Kimberly. Now that summer is almost upon us, you must be getting excited for your end of summer sailing with
Disney Cruise Line!
I have heard about the changes in passports, however I haven't heard that anyone would need to get a new passport until their current valid passport expires, so I believe you should be completely fine. I suggest you give a call to your local passport office to confirm any details, as it may vary, but a passport that expires in 2019 should be fine for travel with Disney Cruise Line this year, two years before expiration. I believe that when you renew your passport the next time, you'll receive the newly updated type of passports at that time. But, again, please confirm with your local passport agency as these types of things change, and I want you to have the most up to date information.
Besides passports for U.S. citizens, another option is to bring along your government-issued identification (driver's license) along with a copy or original of your state-issued birth certificate, which can be used in lieu of passports on closed loop cruises that originate and return to U.S. ports. Please read more details on the
Passports and Cruise Documents page of Disney Cruise Line's website, or call the agents at Disney at (800) 951-3532 for further details.
Have fun planning your cruise, Kimberly!
