I have a Cruise on the Dream, which leaves out of Fort Lauderdale. I was wanting to do a park day and stay at a Disney resort prior to our cruise day. Does Disney offer ground transportation that picks up guests from the resort and drops off at the port?

Hi there, Christina! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. I’m so excited to hear you’re planning a Halloween on the High Seas cruise aboard the Disney Dream!

I completely understand the appeal of pairing a visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth with a Disney Cruise Line sailing. My family actually did something similar last summer when we also cruised out of Fort Lauderdale. We had a rental car that we used to drive from Walt Disney World to Port Everglades, where we parked for the duration of our five-night cruise. After we disembarked, we hopped back in the car and drove straight to the Orlando airport. It ended up being a convenient option for us, especially since we were combining both land and sea adventures.

While Disney Cruise Line does offer transfers from Walt Disney World to Port Canaveral, they unfortunately don’t currently offer transportation from there to Port Everglades. Another option to consider is the Brightline train service from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale, which would get you there in about three hours. The Orlando station is located in Terminal C of Orlando International Airport (MCO), and once you arrive in Fort Lauderdale, it’s just a short taxi or rideshare (around 10 minutes) to the port. You can check out schedules and purchase tickets directly on Brightline’s website.

As for your cruise, you’re in for a real treat, literally! Halloween on the High Seas is full of festive fun. The ship will be decorated, including the iconic Pumpkin Tree in the atrium. Guests of all ages are welcome to dress up in costume (though it’s totally optional), and there’s even trick-or-treating onboard one evening! You’ll find all the details like party times and themed activities in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re onboard and connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi.

Wishing you a "spook-tacular" vacation, Christina!
    Sea ya real soon,
