Ahoy, Jessica!
Congratulations on your inaugural sailing with Disney Cruise Line! The Disney Dream is a great choice to kick off your high sea adventures with Captain Mickey. I enjoy the planning almost as much as the cruise itself so I hope you're having fun with all the magical details that comes along with a Disney Cruise Line vacation.
Jessica, I always like to purchase Disney Gift Cards leading up to my cruise as a way to budget for my onboard expenses. I think you're smart to do the same because they will add up quickly if you start purchasing them now. Also, since the holidays are coming, they will make great stocking stuffers for your crew. As I think back on our past sailings, we've actually spent different amounts depending on the length of the cruise and itinerary. My best advice is to look at what the extras cost and estimate what you might spend. Currently, Port Adventures are charged once you are onboard so these charges can add up depending on what you choose to experience. Other extras to consider are alcoholic/speciality beverages including wine packages, movie snacks, salon and spa services, adult-only dining at Palo and/or Remy, photos and photo packages, internet packages, nursery hours, souvenirs, goodies at Vanellope's Sweets and Treats, special experiences like the Royal Court Royal Tea Party, sports simulators and gratuities. You can see a lot of the current pricing online so hopefully that should help with your plans for gift cards. Once you've purchased your gift cards, you can merge them into one card (up to $1,000.00 per card) on the
Disney Gift Card website. Just be sure to hold on to your card or cards once aboard in case you don't spend the entire amount.
To answer your second question, each Guest will receive two luggage tags so plan on two bags plus a carry-on per family member.
Please let us know if you have any other questions, Jessica!
