Ashley from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We have a cruise coming up that will be sailing in April. I would like to clarify the ID needed for my children (3&6) as well as us adults. Sailing round trip from San Diego.

    Welcome aboard planDisney, Ashley!

I’m glad you stopped by with your question so we can help you get in ship shape for your upcoming cruise. With all the excitement, your required identification documentation is one of the details we want to make sure you have in order before you begin online check-in beginning 30 days prior to boarding the Disney Wonder.

Ashley, the adults in your party will either need an original valid U.S. Passport OR an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate AND Government-issued photo ID.  Your cruise out of San Diego allows your children to present an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate to sail. Ashley, please keep in mind that hospital-issued birth certificates are not acceptable.

During the online check-in process, you will need to upload a copy of your identification documents. I have found that this is easiest if you have these documents in a JPEG format for easy uploading in My Reservations on the Disney Cruise Line website or in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Once all your check-in documents are uploaded and complete, they will be reviewed and you will receive a magical notification letting you know that you have been cleared to sail. This review process may take several days, so don’t worry if it isn’t instant.

Now that you have all of those details ready to go, I hope that you fall in love with the wonder of the Disney Wonder! She is a beautiful ship with so much to offer. For your young ones, I highly recommend Disney's Oceaneer Club for children ages 3-12, with age-appropriate activities and spaces for the various age groups. And did I mention the amazing Character experiences? Be sure to check the Navigator App for all the events and activities. If your kiddos aren’t sure about being apart from you, take advantage of the Open House on embarkation day which gives them, and you, a chance to check things out.

Ashely, our Disney Cruise Line planDisney specialist, Adrianna, is your best first mate when it comes to cruises out of San Diego. Sail on by and ask her any planning questions you may have!

    Wishing you a wonder-filled cruise,
    Shannon
