Ahoy, Sarah! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks so much for sailing by with your question!
I’m a big fan of surf-and-turf dinners AND
adventures. It sounds like you’re planning the perfect combo with a Disney Cruise followed by some time in the magic at Walt Disney World Resort. I’d be happy to help chart your course!
Since you mentioned leaving your car at the resort, I’m guessing you’re planning to drive to Florida. While Disney Cruise Line does offer ground transportation between select Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Port Canaveral, resort parking is only permitted during your hotel stay. So unfortunately, you won’t be able to leave your vehicle at your Disney Resort while you’re away on your cruise.
Your best bet will be to park at Port Canaveral, where the Port Authority parking garage is located right next to the terminal. My family has parked there before, and it’s secure, well-run, and very convenient. The garage opens at 10:15 AM, and the drive from Walt Disney World Resort takes about 1.5 hours. There’s a daily fee, but we’ve found the ease and peace of mind totally worth it. If you check the
Disney Cruise Line website, you'll be able to figure out exactly which cruise terminal you'll be sailing out of and then you can input the exact address into your GPS.
If you’d rather not drive to the port yourself, you can book Disney Cruise Line ground transportation for a per-person fee. You can arrange it through your
DCL Navigator App (click on your reservation and then navigate to add "Transportation") or by
calling Disney Cruise Line directly. Just be sure to move your vehicle off property before your cruise begins. And if your travel plans change and you decide to fly into Orlando International Airport instead, Disney also offers transportation from MCO directly to the port and then back to your resort; super easy and seamless!
I hope this helps as you get everything shipshape for your vacation, Sarah! If you have any more questions, please feel free to sail back by. We’re always happy to help make your vacation dreams come true.
Bon voyage!
