Hi Sara!
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by with this question because sometimes I feel the setup is a bit confusing. Let me see if I can walk you through your options, and you can decide how you want to proceed.
If I am understanding you correctly, you created a
My Disney Experience Account for yourself and then created a profile for your husband within your account. If this is what you did, then you manage everything for your husband. If he would like to check the plans, reservations, and more, he would need to use your sign-in information to access My Disney Experience. When we vacation, my dad just wants to go with the flow, and so this is how my parents have their accounts set up. Mom has an account and she manages dad.
The other option is for your husband to have his own account. This is how my husband and I have things set up. But if your husband creates his own account now, then uses the
Family & Friends tool to link to you, there will be two people with that name showing in your account. The system will not recognize them as the same person. In some families, multiple family members have the same name, and so the system wouldn’t want to automagically merge those people into one, or that would cause issues too. If you go this route, you will need to move entitlements like theme park tickets and resort reservations to the new version your husband created for himself, and once everything is moved, delete the version of your husband that you manage.
If you have already booked a resort, tickets, and
Disney Park Pass Reservations and the husband you manage in your account is already linked there, I would recommend you just leave it alone, and just have your husband use your username and password to access the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. This is what I do for my teenagers. If you haven’t already assigned things to him in your account, and perhaps you are just starting your planning, I would go ahead and delete the profile you created for him, and have him create his own account, then link your two accounts via Family & Friends. This would allow you to each use your own accounts to manage your plans, make reservations, and more.
I hope this helps, Sara. If you are having trouble getting it figured out, or things are not working the way they should, I have always had a good experience with the
Cast Members at Tech Support. They have seen it all before and can untangle a mess as long as Rapunzel’s hair! You can always give them a call if needed.
Happy Planning!
