Hi Caitlyn!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
As a family who took a Disney World vacation with our 4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 2-month-old, I can confidently say you’re not crazy! Unless that means I’m crazy, too, of course!
But to be honest, it was actually one of my all-time favorite Disney World vacations because it was our very first trip as a family of 5. We made so many incredible memories, and I love looking back at all the photos and videos. But I do have some tips to make sure you get the most out of it!
First and foremost, especially in the heat of the summer, plan for everything to go a little slower than it usually would. I planned much less than I normally do for our park days during that trip, and I was so happy with that decision! It was nice to slow down a bit and take in the extra experiences around the park instead of rushing from ride to ride. Plus, there will be even more of those experiences around the parks and resorts thanks to the
Cool KIDS’ SUMMER event this year.
Those breaks throughout the day (as well as a solid midday break back at our resort each day) made our time in the parks much more enjoyable with much fewer meltdowns!
Next, be okay with splitting up here and there to help the flow of your day. There were times that I would take our littlest guy to the
Baby Care Center for a changing and feeding while my husband took our older two to an attraction or to grab a snack. That really helped the older two stay engaged since they didn’t have to wait around during those times.
Of course, for the attractions, feel free to use
Rider Switch so that both mom and dad get to enjoy some of the bigger rides. Remember, it’s your vacation, too, so make sure to add in some things you’ll enjoy!
Finally, take advantage of the fact that you’ll have two kiddos under 3 years old who are free throughout the trip when it comes to park admission, Lightning Lanes, and family-style and buffet dining. Not to mention, there are currently some
great offers on resort rooms, tickets, and the dining plan. I actually booked a trip for my family this summer just because the value is so great right now!
I know you’ll have the best time and get to look back on this trip for years to come. Enjoy every second!
