With Covid restrictions, is park hopping viable during peak popularity periods?

Hello there, Aaron! Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and allow us to help you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort!

As Walt Disney World Resort continues through its initial stages of reopening, Guests are seeing new safety measures as well as the return of some favorite options! On the new side of things, you can look forward to many different changes that have been enacted to increase the safety of all Guests. Some of these include enhanced cleaning procedures, adjustments to promote physical distancing, modified experiences to reduce contact, and the requirement that all Guests ages 2 and above wear a face covering at all times. Guests will also need to make theme park reservations prior to their visit through the Disney Park Pass system. This allows for better crowd management and physical distancing during your time in the parks.

One of the fan favorites that has recently returned is the Park Hopper Option! Guests with Annual Passes or theme park tickets with this option are now once again able to experience more than one park per day. Park Hopper hours now begin at 2:00 pm and end at the theme park’s scheduled close time. In order to take advantage of this perk, Guests will need to make a reservation for their first theme park through the Disney Park Pass system and enter that park prior to visiting another.

Admittance to your second park is currently based on park capacity so, if a park is full, you will not be able to enter. That being said, park capacity is rarely reached outside. If you intend on visiting during a holiday, this may be a concern for you to consider. If your second theme park is full, you will be able to re-enter your first park for some more fun, though!

I highly recommend downloading the My Disney Experience app to your smartphone prior to your visit as well! Guests will be notified whenever the Park Hopper option is unavailable at a select theme park through a push notification on the app so this will be an excellent resource during your trip!

Best of luck as you continue to plan for your summer visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you!
