Aloha Megan!
Mahalo for stopping by planDisney! I’m enjoying answering your questions about
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, as they are getting me excited about my own visit this June! While you will find some activities and locations at the resort such as Auntie’s Beach House and Laniwai Spa, that have not reopened, there is still plenty of fun to be found! You can find a complete list of what is temporarily unavailable on the
Aulani Resort: Know Before You Go page.
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is following all Covid related restrictions required by the State of Hawaii and the Island of Oahu and working hard to make your stay as safe as they are able. This includes the wearing of an approved style mask for those ages 2 and older that cover both the nose and mouth, that can only be removed while actively eating or drinking. You should expect to wear a mask while walking around the resort, and in dining locations, until your food arrives. Masks are not required while in the pool or ocean, but Guests should be cognizant of social distancing and leave space between themselves and other families. I would review the mask guidelines before your trip so you are prepared with the approved styles.
You’ll also find added physical barriers, signage, and ground markings throughout the resort that have been added to aid in social distancing and to help Guests better navigate common areas. Increased cleaning of high-touch areas is ongoing, as is modified housekeeping in resort rooms. Your room will have a thorough cleaning before your arrival, with only light cleaning during your stay to decrease contact between Guests and Cast Members.
Also, be aware that per the State of Hawaii, groups of related or unrelated people are limited to a maximum of 10. This may not pose an issue for your visit, but for my group of 12, we will have to split into two groups when dining or visiting the beach, pool, or other tourist destinations on the island.
The most important thing to be aware of Megan, is the State of Hawaii’s required 10-day quarantine for visitors, which can be skipped if you complete the required pre-travel testing. There have been multiple stories in the news of visitors from the mainland being turned away who did not complete the testing correctly. You must use one of testing sites on the State of Hawaii’s approved list of “Trusted Partners," within a specific timeline, and then upload verification of your negative test to receive the needed QR code for travel. Aulani will also need to see this QR code to avoid the 10-day quarantine in your resort room. You should review the process and requirements on the Hawaii Tourist Authority website to be sure you complete this process correctly.
I hope this is helpful information as you plan your visit to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. Keep sending those questions, Megan, I love talking Disney!
