What is more cost effective for a family of 4 (4.5 years & 20 months when we travel) a dining plan or pay as we go? My husband worries it will be restrictive and limit where we can eat. What are some restaurants that the kids (and us) would find enjoya

    Hi Mandy,

There are so many decisions to be made when planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. Luckily, we're here to help you through that maze.  The Disney Dining Plan always begs the question; is it worth it? The decision is a personal one and I can't advise one way or the other, but there is an excellent website with a calculator at distripplanner.com which can help you determine your costs with and without the plan.  I personally like the convenience of knowing that my meals are all paid for, but on the downside, it's way too much food to eat and we sometimes waste dining credits.

If you purchase the Disney Dining Plan, most, if not all, of the restaurants on property accept the Dining Plan and there are no restricted menus.  You have the same menu offerings whether or not you are on the plan, so no worries there.

Restaurant choices are a personal decision based on the type of food that your family likes to eat, but character meals always make for a memorable event so try and secure an Advanced Dining Reservation for any of these fun experiences.

Let us know, Mandy, if there's anything else we can help you with as you plan your magical family vacation.
