Hi there Nancy, and welcome to planDisney!
Over the past few years, I've been closely watching the progress of the construction projects as a Disney Vacation Club Member who calls
The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa home. It's been great to come by to stay and visit to watch as each building in sequence became temporarily wrapped in scaffolding to eventually reveal
rooms refreshed with distinctive Mary Poppins-inspired touches in a cooler color palette. I previously provided
an in-depth look at the ongoing work being done at the start of the year, and am pleased to report that much of these developments have since been completed.
Asking the Cast Members working at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa directly, they aren't able to provide any exact completion dates that can be shared with guests at the current time. They do however anticipate that work should be completed later this year, but there is no timeline that can be guaranteed. We can however, look to the current developments around the resort itself that may hint at what guests might expect in the coming months:
- Much of the exterior work on the main lobby building has been completed, with the landscaping details refreshed across the grounds. Currently, the construction appears to be focused on the front entranceway leading from the porte-cochère which can be observed from above by guests taking the Walt Disney World Resort Monorail.
Though I wish we had more concrete news to share, stay tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog for any news or updates in a year full of developments here at Walt Disney World Resort, but I'm personally hoping that it'll all be ready to go well before the holiday crowds descend upon the resort for their chance to spy
our larger-than-life Gingerbread House again at the end of the year!
Let's hope that your visit next year will be just as Grand!
Nancy
