Hello there Angela and welcome to planDisney!
I'm glad to be answering this question for you as I sit almost directly beneath the ornate chandelier in the main lobby of
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, to give you the most in-person intel possible about this beautiful place where I not only had
my Disney Wedding, but also where I call
home as a Disney Vacation Club Member. I went around to speak with a number of different Cast Members working in different locations here and though you might not be too surprised that no one was able to guarantee whether the ongoing refurbishment will be completed by July, here's what I can share with you based on their responses:
- At the current time, the exterior work seems to be primarily based in the front entranceway area as well as the southern entrance to the lobby that leads out towards the water play area and the Beach Pool. Much of the work that has been completed as far as landscaping and the exterior of the building is being revealed bit by bit with every passing week and the Cast Members look forward to seeing the results of this once walls and scaffolding continue to be removed over the next few months.
- The main building of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has seen work completed on the upper levels including the Royal Palm Concierge Club Level Lounge overlooking the areas below, but the flooring and carpeting has yet to be updated at the ground level to match the cooler hues and refreshed tones already seen throughout the rest of the resort. The Cast Members anticipate that sections of the central lobby area may be closed off once again over the next few months and it'll be interesting to see how this might affect The Grand Cottage and Easter Egg Display this year.
Summer does tend to be a very popular time of the year for folks and families to descend upon Orlando en masse for their vacations, so it would be in everyone's best interest for construction and refurbishment to be completed by then. We might even see the long-awaited return of dining locations and offerings that have yet to make a comeback at the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa main lobby area, but I recommend
staying tuned to the Disney Parks Blog in the meantime where any official news or updates can be found leading up to your trip.
Here's hoping for a beautifully shiny new look in this beautiful place by the time you arrive for your stay this summer!
