Considering staying at the Contemporary Resort with a 3 year old. So here's a very random question....Does anyone have any idea how tall or old you have to be to ride on the water slide at their pool? Or can he be accompanied by an adult on it?

There are no age or height requirements for the water slides at the Walt Disney World resort hotels. However, each person must go down the slide unaccompanied. This means that he cannot go down the slide on an adult's lap.

Whether a 3-year-old is ready for this depends on many factors: comfort in the water, possible fear of sliding alone, etc. My girls were about four years old when we first had them go on the resort water slides. Even though they had some basic swimming skills, as a precautionary measure, we had them wear a life vest. These are available to borrow for free at the resorts.

Also, at the resorts you can have an adult wait at the bottom of the slide for the child. The lifeguard will ask you to step out of the area directly beneath the slide, but you will be able to stand close enough that you will be able to intercept your child within a few seconds. At least until the kids got used to the big slides, you may want to have one adult in your party slide first, then the kids, followed by another adult in your party. We developed this system because we once had a child "chicken out" on a slide at the last minute. My husband had gone down the slide at was waiting for her, and she was at the top of the slide, alone, crying, and totally unsure what to do. Eventually the lifeguard at the top had someone find us, but this was obviously not one of our finest parenting moments. (Now they're older and ride the slides by themselves with no problem. Whew!)

Enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World!
