We are considering renting a family cabana on Castaway, is it worth the cost ? We have 2 daughters 7,4 years old and with all the activities within the island I was wondering if we really would take advantage of this amenity. Seats&Umbrella aren´t

Welcome back, Igor! While I haven't rented a cabana on Castaway Cay, I have seen them and had friends who swear by having their own cabana each time they stop at Castaway Cay. For my family who likes to take part in the activities and wander the island, the cabana is not something we really feel the need for.

I am very pale-skinned, so I need to have shade, and was worried about this the first time I went to Castaway Cay. Once I got there, though, I had no reason to worry. There are certainly plenty of chairs available, many with umbrellas. If you leave the ship early on in the day you shouldn't have a problem getting a nice spot on the beach with chairs and an umbrella. But, do keep in mind that the umbrellas are usually the first spots to go, so don't wait too long to get off the ship.

If your family plans to spend a lot of time relaxing in your chairs, want some guaranteed shade, your own secluded little beach area and the service that comes with the cabanas, by all means go for it! But, if you think you'd like to spend quite a bit of time wandering the island, the girls want to spend time in Scuttle's Cove, or you have Port Adventures planned, you might find you won't take full advantage of the cabana.

If you are worried about the beach being crowded, simply stay on the tram from the ship, and get off at the second Family Beach stop, not the first. Most people are so excited to be there, they hop off the tram at the first stop, not realizing that at the second stop, you'll still be accessing the same Family Beach, but you'll be down a bit farther where it is sure to be less crowded.

I hope this helps you plan your beach day a bit better, Igor. Have fun on Castaway Cay! I can't wait to get back there soon myself!
