In considering the DVC, why would you buy into a more expensive resort if you don't have to stay in that resort. Like BLT, but others are less expensive! Also, any advantages in buying through Disney v/s Timeshare Store? Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Hi, Melanie!  We have three Disney Vacation Club contracts at three different resorts, and the main reason for doing that is because of your home resort advantage.  If you have a contract at a particular resort, you can book reservations up to 11 months in advance at that resort, as opposed to only seven months in advance at any other DVC resort.  Because we sometimes have to travel during school holidays, and it might be a bit more difficult to get a room, we know that we have options at three different locations to book at 11 months out, increasing our chances of getting the accommodations we want.

If your biggest concern is to purchase into DVC and spend the least amount possible, it really doesn't matter which resort your contract is for.  You can stay at any of the DVC properties, but you might have to be a bit flexible with regard to your accommodations.

We purchased all of our contracts through DVC, and for us, it came down to confidence.  We believe in the Disney name, and we felt more comfortable dealing directly with DVC on our contracts.  DVC does occasionally offer incentives to purchase points from them directly, and some of the deals are hard to pass up!  We have used the same DVC guide through all of our purchases, and it really just comes down to us being familiar with the process through DVC, comfortable with our guide, and confident in the product.

I hope that helps!  We love Walt Disney World on a whole new level since becoming Disney Vacation Club members.  We recommend it to everyone!
