Hello! We are considering the Disney Dining Plan for the first time for our upcoming trip in May. We will have 6 adults. Will the 18% gratuity be based on our cost of the plan, or the menu cost of what we order in the restaurants?

    Hi Whitney,

Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel. The 18 percent gratuity, which is automatically added for parties over 5, is based on the cost of your meal not how much the dining plan costs just like when you dine at a normal restaurant. So you would pay a bigger tip when you order a steak to a salad!

You can find the Disney Dining Plan brochure HERE if you and your party would normally eat a quick service and table service everyday then buying the dining plan will save you money, even with you having to pay the gratuity on top. I love the dining plan as I don't need to worry about spending anything on food whilst at Disney as it's already been paid for.

    Have a great trip,

    Jo
