We are considering going on a cruise with our children June 2015 but I have concerns. 2 of my three children have life threatening food allergies and it seems like all the snack spots have Dairy. Are there alternative snacks for children with allergies?

Welcome aboard, Bethanie! I'm really happy to hear that your family is considering booking a magical sailing with Disney Cruise Line!

Disney is fabulous in working with families with food allergies and they do so on a daily basis. The best thing to do is to note all of your children's allergies on your reservation when you first book the cruise. This information is given to your dining service team. Since Disney Cruise Line features Rotational Dining, your family will rotate through all of the main dining restaurants with the same servers each night, so no need to re-explain your family's allergies each night, as they'll be prepared to offer your kids all sorts of appropriate options. Disney does highly suggest that guests with food allergies plan to eat all of their meals in the main dining rooms, versus the quick service spots or buffet, as the servers, chefs and kitchens in the main restaurants are best able to accommodate allergy needs.

Disney does allow guests to bring their own snacks and drinks onboard the ship as long as they are in your carry-on luggage, so I'd suggest you do this as well, just to be sure you always have something suitable on hand no matter where you are onboard or in the ports when your kids want a quick snack. But, don't hesitate to ask at any of the food spots about allergies an ingredients, as you know your kids' needs best and can find out details at each spot. However, again, your best bet may be to stick with meals in the main restaurants. We don't have food allergies in our family, but we still prefer to eat all of our meals in the main restaurants anyway, as the service is wonderful, the choices are plentiful and it's always a nice place to relax!

    Have fun planning, Bethanie!
