We are considering coming to WDW for a week after the Marathon in Jan 2015 and are concerned about the crowd level. Do most people tend to go home after the marathon or stay for the week? We usually come the last week of Jan. and love the small crowds.

Hi Shari,

My family has been many times to the Walt Disney World Resorts for the RunDisney Marathon Weekend! While I am the cheerleader, I feel like I run a marathon trying to see my family at different spots on the course.

The crowds will be heaviest the week before as racers run some of the shorter distance races Thursday and Friday and attend the Expo. Sunday will be crowded in Epcot because the race runs through this park to the finish line.

Most runners will stay Monday and head home on Tuesday. After Tuesday, your crowds will be similar to the end of January. However, check the date of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as you might see a slight bump in attendance that weekend but not enough to make is troublesome.
