Hi Michael!
Welcome to planDisney! As a mom of three, I've been making magical memories with my little ones at Walt Disney World Resort for more than a decade and have taken them at just about every age - from infant to teenager. No matter how many times we visit, each vacation is full of excitement, and I'm sure you're looking forward to experiencing Disney with your young Mouseketeer!
Michael, I'm so happy to hear that you're planning to visit the Disney water parks with your son on your upcoming trip. If I'm being honest, I waited too long to share these gems with my boys, as there is a lot at both parks for infants and toddlers. Currently, both
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park are open, but beginning September 9, 2026, Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close. Before finalizing your plans, I'd suggest
confirming the operating hours for the day of your visit.
Regardless of which park you visit, you'll be happy to know each has dedicated areas for its youngest Guests. At Typhoon Lagoon, little ones can splash and play at
Ketchakiddee Creek, while over at Blizzard Beach, your son can explore a Frozen-inspired water playground at
Tike's Peak. I think you'll find that the fountains and shallow water offer a comfortable space for you to explore together. I've also found my boys loved lazy rivers, like
Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon or
Cross Country Creek at Blizzard Beach, at this age. Both are great choices, so it really comes down to personal theming preference, or if there are any must-do
attractions at either water park for the adults in your party.
When packing for your visit to the water park, I recommend bringing sunscreen and a hat for your little one - and don't forget the swim diapers! We find it helpful to
rent a locker near the main entrance to store our bags and valuables during the day. There are also
shops inside each water park if you need to purchase additional swim diapers or other essentials for the day, as well as some fun merchandise options!
I hope this information has been helpful, Michael, and that you enjoy a
SPLASH-tacular visit to Walt Disney World with your son! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney - we're all ears!
Cheers!
Kristi
