Would you consider Fantasmic in Hollywood Studios too scary for a 3 year old? I have read in a few places that it can be "terrifying for tots" and I want to make sure the long wait is justifiable. Thanks!

It's a tough call. I have twins that have very different "fright tolerances." Even though they are obviously both the same age, one of them will sit through any scary movie, show, or ride without batting an eyelash (she LOVES Tower of Terror) and the other freaks out if she just hears the music for even a vaguely scary show. (We had to take her out of the theater in the opening moments of both Nemo and the Incredibles. She NEVER would have lasted at Fantasmic at age three.) Only you can tell which end of the spectrum your child might fall on.

If you go to YouTube and search on the word "Fantasmic," you will find several videos that guests have taken of the show, a few that capture the entire thing. You could watch this to get the full sense of the show and get a fuller sense of whether it would be appropriate for your child.

The general plot of the show is that the Disney villains have taken over and Mickey needs to plan a rescue. There are video clips of the bad guys from most of the Disney films. There are flashing lights, loud noises, a mock battle, and a giant puppet snake. Also, much of the time, the stadium is quite dark. If any of those things sound like they'd be issues for your child, then I'd postpone viewing until a later trip.

The not-so-frightening elements of the show include princesses dancing on barges lit up with beautiful lights and, of course, all the characters happy together at the end.

The technology and the artistry of the show are quite amazing, but only you can decide if your child is old enough to appreciate this.
