Can we have connecting rooms for adults in one room and kids in the other?

Hi, Phil! Yes, however, you must request the connecting rooms when making your reservations.  They will explain that connecting rooms are not guaranteed and that every effort will be made to honor your request. You will then need to explain that the adults will be in one room and the children in the other.  It is VERY important that you explain this arrangement to the Cast Member helping you make your reservation. Upon arrival, double-check that the rooms are connecting, not just adjoining, with the Cast Member at the Check-in desk. Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!
