I am confused that the August 11th calendar for Hollywood Studios indicates that the park closes at 10:00 but also shows that there is a Fantasmic performance at 10:30. Is this right?

This is a detail that confuses many guests. The stated park closing time is the time when no additional guests will be admitted into the park and most of the rides cease operation for the night. It doesn't mean that's the time when all guests will be vacated from the park. There are often activities, such as fireworks or Fantasmic, that don't begin until after park closing. As long as you're in the park after 10:00, you'll be able to stay and watch Fantasmic. You will also find that some of the shops and restaurants in the parks stay open for an hour or so after the stated park closing time.

I was at Epcot a few weeks ago. The stated park closing time on that day was 9:00 p.m. with the Illuminations show also scheduled for 9:00 p.m. We ended up having to leave the park during Illuminations, at about 9:10. As we were leaving, there were still guests being let into the park so that they could see the tail end of Illuminations.

You should consider park closing time to be a guideline for when the activities in the park begin winding down, rather than a notice of time when the guests need to leave the park.
