Coming to WDW for very 1st trip the 1st week of Feb! We have resv. for 2 meals, but want to eat & view fireworks from California Grill, but they have no resv available. My question is, what is likelihood of being seated at Calif. Grill Lounge? what

Hi, Natalie!  Your best bet for a table at the California Grill Lounge is to get there right as the restaurant opens at 5 PM.  You'll find some of the same gourmet menu items that you've probably been dying to try if you've been trying to get a reservation, so it's a wonderful way to experience the restaurant without a reservation.

It is super difficult to find a spot here as you get closer to fireworks time.  The lounge fills up and people tend to stay.  Guests who have dined earlier are welcome to come back for the fireworks, so you will usually see them begin to gather for the show.  It's a tough seat to be grabbed.

Here's my suggestion.  Head to the lounge at 5 for something to eat, then go take a stroll around the resort or do some shopping.  There is an observation deck at the Contemporary that is just across the way from Chef Mickey's.  It's an awesome spot to watch the fireworks, and the view is as good as the one from the California Grill.  If the lounge doesn't pan out at all, you might grab a bite at The Wave, and then head to the observation desk.

If all else fails, keep trying to get a reservation!  People make last minute changes to their vacation schedules all the time, and you may luck into one of these coveted spots!

Fingers crossed it all works out!
