We are coming to WDW for the first time with a 9 and 12 yr old to Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. It's a quick visit. What are the MUST do things for these parks? My 12 yr old is in the autism spectrum and had Lupus so waiting can be a challenge.

    Happy New Year, Gina!

I'm so excited to welcome you to planDisney! Your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is almost here! A first visit to Disney World is always extra special, and with the ages of your kids, I think you'll especially love Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. I have two boys, ages 12 and 16, and Hollywood Studios is their favorite park. I really enjoy answering questions like these because I have my own "experts" right at home. So let me share my kids' must-do experiences at both of these parks to help you plan an unforgettable trip.

Magic Kingdom is the most iconic park and, in my opinion, a must...especially for first-time visitors. If your kids are thrill-seekers, my boys are huge fans of TRON Lightcycle / Run and highly recommend riding it after dark for the best experience. They also enjoy the immersive theming of Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

You'll also want to make time for timeless classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion, which never disappoint. The PeopleMover is another great choice, offering a scenic tour of Tomorrowland...and a fun surprise as you glide right through Space Mountain.

Jungle Cruise is always a favorite as well, thanks to the Skippers who bring the attraction to life with their pun-tastic humor. When it comes to shows, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor is one we never skip. It's funny, interactive, and makes for a perfect break between rides.

If your kids enjoy parades and fireworks, you can catch the Festival of Fantasy Parade during the day, and the new nighttime parade, Starlight, later in the evening. To top off the night, Happily Ever After fireworks light up the sky and are a must-see finale to your Magic Kingdom day.

Over at Hollywood Studios, my kids love spending time at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Attractions like Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run make you feel as though you've joined the Resistance in an epic battle against the First Order. While you're exploring Batuu, I recommend making a reservation at Oga's Cantina. My boys can't get enough of the fun, out-of-this-world drinks and energetic atmosphere.

You'll also want to head to Toy Story Land and challenge the family to a friendly competition on Toy Story Mania! It's always a hit in our house. Another favorite is the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, which is full of action and classic Hollywood entertainment.

And hear me out on this one...the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is a must-see for our family. It's absolutely hilarious, incredibly entertaining, and fun for all ages. Trust me...don't skip it!

I also wanted to suggest looking into Disability Access Service (DAS) for your 12-year-old. This program is offered at Disney World for Guests with developmental disabilities who may have difficulty waiting in traditional standby queues. Up to 60 days before your park visit, you can schedule a live video chat with a Cast Member to explore the options available to your family.

Gina, I know that was a lot of information to take in! If any other questions come up, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. It's truly my pleasure to help Guests like you plan a visit filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

    Cheers to 2026,
