Hi. We are coming to WDW in Feb 2012 from the UK. Tipping seems to be very different in the States so would appreciate an idea of what is expected- e.g how much do you tip hotel room cleaners or other hotel staff? And what about quick srvc locations/bars?

Hi Rachel! Thanks for the question. It's important to remember that tipping is  totally up to you, and is supposed too be based on services you receive. Here are a few guidelines you can choose to follow if you feel the service you receive warrants it.

    - Full service waitstaff and bartenders - usually between 15% and 20% of the before tax total. Disney will include amounts at the bottom of your receipt in table service restaurants to simplify the math for you. If you are going to be a party of six or more, they will automatically add 18% to your total bill. No gratuity is expected at most quick service spots.
    - Mousekeeping - Although not expected, people do often leave tips in clearly marked envelopes for these cast members. A rule of thumb is $1 per person per night should you choose.
    - Bell Staff typically get between $1 and $2 per bag.

Hope this helps Rachel! Write back with any other questions!
