We are coming to WDW at the end of January 2012 and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Is it worth the extra money to get a view of the savannah's? We have 2 kiddo's, ages 2 1/2 and 4 that would love to see some animals!

Hi Ronni!  I love to stay in the deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World, but I can also be frugal so I generally reserve the least expensive room category. Like you, I usually question whether it's worthwhile to pay several hundred dollars more for a view, and for me, at many hotels, it's not. The Animal Kingdom Lodge, however, is one exception to my rule. I just love sitting on my resort room balcony there watching the animals grazing and frolicking on the savanna. It's such a unique experience, and in my opinion, it's well worth the cost. Since you have two little ones who'll love spotting animals, you won't regret upgrading to a savanna view.  If, however, you decide to keep your standard room, the Animal Kingdom Lodge does have several public viewing areas where your family can watch the animals.
