coming to WDW in august. was wondering if anyone had done the family magic tour at MK? Have 2-12 year olds and 2- 9 year olds with us. is it worth the money and are the kids to old for it?

Hi Kristin, I've done the Family Magic Tour twice. I think this is one of the best priced tours at Walt Disney World. You get a lot of personal attention for not much money. The tour involves the guests following a sort of scavenger hunt, finding clues based on various park attractions. On the way, the guide will ask you to do some silly behaviors, like walking backwards through the park or singing as you go. The tour is much more fun if you're uninhibited enough to play along. My twins are twelve years old now. Honestly, I'm not sure they'd be as carefree and joyful about the experience now as they were when they were a bit younger. The "big finish" of the tour is character visit for just your group. When my kids were a bit smaller, this was a HUGE deal for them, now not as much. You'll have to assess how "jaded" your kids are to determined whether they would find the experience entertaining. If you'd like an alternative, they might like something like the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot, mwhich skews a big older. Or perhaps horseback riding or a boat rental would be more their style. Please let us know if you need more ideas.
