Hiya Bernadette!
Welcome to planDisney! This is such an exciting time to visit Walt Disney World and I am currently planning a trip with my little ones to experience it very soon!
Normally, during regular Park hours,
the official rules state that costumes are only allowed for guests under the age of 14. However, during special events like
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, all guests can wear a costume! There are
still rules regarding masks and graphics but it is generally a fun time for everyone to be creative! However, you are still free to enter any of the Parks or the party without a costume. I know that with my kids I will start my time at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party with a costume but end the evening in shorts and T-shirts. I will try to keep to a Halloween or pumpkin vibe but it will be something they are comfortable wearing and therefore happy. Don't stress about costumes if you know they won't like it or if you haven't prepared. They can still enjoy all the attractions and character experiences. If you are attending the Party the Trick-or-Treat trails will still be as fun and welcoming to everyone. If you are still debating what to do, consider a fun washable tattoo, a themed T-shirt, or a cute hat if you want to join in on the fun but with less work. The gift shops throughout the Parks will be laden with plenty of items you could consider if you want to join in on the fun. I love the
Halloween Glow collection which glows in the dark! When the kids are happy, mom can be less stressed. Also, decorations for this spooky season are great for photo opportunities and I hope no matter what your kids wear you enjoy every minute and take every picture.
This time of year is the best time to consider adding
Memory Maker to your ticket. My favorite photos to take are the magic shots that Disney PhotoPass photographers can overlay onto my pictures. There are some special ones only available this time of year so make sure to ask! You may be pleasantly surprised!
I hope this helps and you have a magical time!
Happy Planning!
